Presenter: Kellie Saunders

Presented from a pharmacist's perspective, this webinar will look at prescription, over the counter and complementary medicines. The overview will cover:

  • Mode of action
  •  Common uses
  • Current guidelines for treatment
  • Dosages
  • Drug interactions
  • Side-effects
  • Contraindications

At the end of the webinar, participants should have a good understanding of the most common pain medications their patients may be taking.  Participants should also be able to identify when to refer a patient to their GP or pharmacist.

About the presenter:

Kellie graduated from Monash University in 1999. The following year, she completed an internship in Community Pharmacy and became a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA).

For 17 years, Kellie has managed community pharmacies across South East Melbourne, with her current position at Cheltenham Pharmacy First for the last 3 years.  Cheltenham Pharmacy First is not for profit Friendly Society dedicated to outstanding healthcare and also in giving back to its local community, most notably in providing financial assistance to community groups in the Cheltenham area via the Community Grants Program.

Kellie completed further studies to become an Accredited Pharmacist and member of the Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy in 2012.  She says that this accreditation has enhanced her clinical knowledge and allowed her to provide in home medication reviews to patients and a closer association with patient’s GPs.

“My passion lies in patient-GP- allied health collaboration, and in pharmacy health services.  I believe strongly that all health care professionals should collaborate in order to enhance positive health outcomes for out patients.”
