Course Description

Presenter: Greg Dea

SFMA Level 1 & 2 – Sydney, May 2018
Elixr Education is excited to once again present the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) Level 1 course in August, and for only the second time in Sydney, SFMA Level 2, both facilitated by the highly-respected Greg Dea.
The course teaches the SFMA movement based diagnostic system and provides healthcare professionals with an efficient and systematic tool to reach a comprehensive movement diagnosis.
It is a clinical assessment for people who experience pain. It finds the cause of pain - not just the source - by logically breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns in a structured, repeatable assessment.
SFMA Level 1 - Certification
The SFMA Level 1 seminar will cover the background, philosophy, and evidence related to the SFMA model. You will cover the 7 full body movement scoring system for the SFMA Top Tier Movements and the logic of how the model breaks down movement patterns.
Practical sessions allow you to practice the systematic approach of breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns. Each dysfunctional pattern is ultimately diagnosed as either a mobility or stability/motor control problem. You will be taught the assessment criteria, and by the end of the course, feel comfortable integrating the system immediately into your clinical practice.
SFMA Level 2 - Advanced
Course Prerequisites: Before attending the SFMA Level 2, you must have previously attended the SFMA Level 1 course.
In the SFMA Level 2 seminar, you will focus on interventions designed to complement the SFMA findings. You’ll focus on the demonstration and application of the 4 x 4 exercise matrix and the neurodevelopmental progression it follows. Key motor control oriented exercise progressions are provided for each top tier movement pattern assessed within the SFMA.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of treatment for stability and/or motor control dysfunctions. Additionally, reset and reinforcement ideas will be discussed to allow the participant to gain a greater understanding of the clinical application of the model.
