Course Description

Presenter: Dr Aamer Aziz

This webinar is an introduction for osteopaths into the production and interpretation of diagnostic ultrasound images and studies. Participants will develop a better understanding of the science and instrumentation behind producing optimum clinical images. Topics covered will include:

  • The appearance of normal and basic abnormal structures on ultrasound
  • Differentiating MSK structures from other body parts on ultrasound
  • Interpreting static and dynamic diagnostic ultrasound images


About the presenter:

Aamer Aziz

Aamer graduated from medical school in 1987 and did his internship in general surgery. He did his first post-graduation in nuclear medicine in 1990 and worked as a nuclear medicine specialist for 7 years. He did a second post-graduation / PhD in diagnostic imaging / radiology in 2002 and worked as a radiologist for 15 years.

He did graduate diploma in sonography in 2012 and has been working as a senior sonographer since then.

He has also worked as a senior research scientist, developing intelligent radiology systems and basic research in computer applications. He established and ran a private radiology practice for 5 years. He worked as a lecturer in medical imaging at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, NSW for 5 years.

Aamer has a very strong research background and has more than 70 publications, presentations, patent applications and conference proceedings. His areas of research are oncological and cardiac nuclear medicine, chest radiology, generating computer models and simulators of robot assisted cardiothoracic surgery, cerebral vascular stent simulations, PACS, teaching files generation, segmentation of brain and liver.

In 2015, he joined Central Queensland University as a Senior Lecturer and is the Head of Course for postgraduate medical sonography.
