Course Description

Presenter: Jessica (Jess) Gallagher

Jessica will explore the findings of the first comprehensive research on Australia’s eye health, which found that more than 50% of participants have an eye condition they didn’t know they had. The survey findings forecast significant increases in blindness and vision loss, despite it being preventable if detected early. With an Osteopath often being the first health practitioner consulted, Jessica will discuss the key symptoms, treatments, referral pathways and common health conditions and activities associated with eye health.

About presenter:

Jessica Gallagher currently serves as Board Director and global ambassador for Vision 2020 Australia.

Vision 2020 is the national peak body working in partnership to prevent avoidable blindness and improve vision care in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

After losing over 90% of her central vision at the age of 17 to a rare, degenerative disease, eye health and vision care are causes close to her heart. Alongside her career as an Osteopath and professional athlete Jessica also fulfils ambassadorial roles with Vision Australia and Seeing Eye Dogs Australia.
