About the presenter:

As a Diabetes Educator with tertiary qualifications in science and nursing, Kris has worked with health organisations for over 35 years and continues to enjoy meeting challenges (and solutions) that affect health and well-being.

After working for 12 years in public and private hospitals in New South Wales, she moved to Tasmania where she was fortunate to have the role of Clinical Nurse Consultant in a community setting.

In 1998, Kristen was employed at the Menzies Research Institute in Tasmania. She was manager of the insulin treated diabetes register, project manager of Tasmanian Diabetes Family Research and manager of the research project into the genetics of Syndrome X.

Prior to moving to Brisbane, she was Head of Health and Prevention at the Australian Diabetes Council.

Kristen firmly believes health improvements must start in the primary setting where community awareness, prevention and early detection are key factors in maintaining the well-being of all. Kris believes Health improvements and lifestyle changes can only be achieved if the person takes control of their life and their health.

Now, as Senior Educator at the Australian Digital Health Agency, she promotes the benefits of linking health providers and their documentation into one electronic record managed by the person receiving the care.
