Submission in relation to DVA Dental and Allied Health Arrangements Review

Osteopathy Australia notes that the Review will be undertaken with representatives of healthcare providers. We also note that this submission forms part of the initial phase of the consultation, which has thus far contained relatively little hard information. We are pleased to learn that the DVA will be consulting with peak provider associations through working groups based on treatment types, and we look forward to receiving further details as promised in due course. The expenditure and utilisation data for osteopathy shows, on a per practitioner basis, high rates of expenditure (though at a low rate of remuneration) and high rates of utilisation. However, as we have expressed in person in previous stakeholder consultations, the economic pressure of paused indexation makes DVA treatment—of necessity without a gap—less and less viable.
