Submission: draft State Insurance and Care Governance Amendment Regulation 2022

Osteopathy Australia’s submission to SIRA NSW on the draft State Insurance and Care Governance Amendment Regulation 2022 which supports the amendments made recently to the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015.

SIRA has been recently consulted various stakeholders for their feedback on the draft State Insurance and Care Governance Amendment Regulation 2022 which supports the amendments made recently to the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015.

Osteopathy Australia welcomed this opportunity to be able to state some of our concerns over the legislative powers that allows SIRA to be able to direct service providers to take specific actions, provide specific services or to not provide some or all relevant services to SIRA patients. While Osteopathy Australia agrees that SIRA has attempted to clarify certain issues within the draft State Insurance and Care Governance Amendment Regulations 2022, there are still some areas in need of direct clarification and explanation to ensure that these powers are not misused, and unnecessary intervention is prevented.

Osteopathy Australia highlighted the need for SIRA to clarify the intent of these directive powers and who would be qualified to make these decisions at SIRA as it will impact patient care.
