Breaking down the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner's Guide to Health Privacy, Osteopathy Australia will be creating the following 4 modules in the coming months:

  • Module 1: What is privacy, what are the principles of privacy and why do they matter in clinical practice?

  • Module 2: What are some of the contemporary debates and issues associated with patient privacy and why are they significant?

  • Module 3: What is required to maintain privacy at the clinic level?

  • Module 4: Managing privacy related to individual patients

 

This first module aims to provide an introduction to the Privacy Act and some of its key concepts.

Participants will learn about:

  • the legislative framework governing privacy for Australian Government agencies

  • Key terms including personal information, sensitive information, health information and consent.

  • Identify and explain the 13 Australian Privacy Principles
