Content Author: Jena Chang

Jena is a young and upcoming osteopath with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Osteopathy. She completed her studies in 2013 at RMIT University in Melbourne, Victoria. She has a personal interest in movement, exercise and communication; an interest which is steering her away from traditional hands-on only management. She currently splits her time across two small clinics in Carlton North and Box Hill North, Melbourne.

The Effective Communication module came about following a string of patient comments aimed at Jena being a small, female osteopath. The expectation that a small or female practitioner is incapable of providing an effective treatment outcome is outdated and needs to be addressed. With the number of female osteopaths on the rise, it is an important message to convey to the public.

This short module aims to make sure bias, stereotypes and culture don't negatively affect treatments and you learn how to communicate in difficult situations.
