Read more:

This 2-day workshop is designed to challenge and extend your skills to manage clients with persistent pain by providing osteopaths with a broader range of effective and practical treatment options.
The workshop focuses on developing:
•    a further understanding of why pain can persist
•    skills to better identify the "hidden" barriers to progress
•    a framework of treatment options for clients with ongoing pain
•    goals that your client is motivated to achieve
•    novel graded exposure plans to address fear avoidant behaviours
•    sleep strategies to improve disrupted sleep
•    specific CBT and ACT techniques to address pain
•    practical strategies to help a client who is ‘stuck’
•    techniques to manage difficult conversations
Feedback from osteopaths who attended this workshop:
“I have better awareness of the psychosocial importance in not just chronic pain patients”
“The workshop has helped me implement specific goals and rehab for each individual patient, 10/10”

Small group work facilitated by an interdisciplinary pain management team will allow you to practice new skills.

Registration fees include GST.
Please be aware that due to demand, registrations cannot be confirmed until full payment is made.
Numbers are strictly limited to ensure the workshop is highly interactive.

Both days are fully catered.

Bio

Nick and Jacqui have delivered this Pain Management in Practice workshop for 12 years. They have reviewed the evidence to continually refine the delivery of this workshop to small groups of clinicians and return to work professionals around Australia. Feedback has helped shape the workshop to meet the needs of current participants. Their integrated presentation style within the workshop allows participants to be engaged throughout both days and enhances the richness of the learning experience.

Nick and Jacqui work clinically at Empower Rehab, a clinic specialising in the management of complex and chronic pain conditions, located in Heidelberg Heights, Melbourne. They have both been invited to present at the Australian Pain Society conference, been invited speakers to a series of WorkCover Employer Networks and have had papers accepted to present at the Australian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and Australian Physiotherapy Association conferences as well as presenting at webinars, seminars and panel forums around Australia on best practice pain management.

Nick is a physiotherapist who has focused on the management of complex and persistent pain after working in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. He has also previously worked as an Occupational Rehabilitation consultant and as an Injury Management Advisor for a large self-insured employer. He managed two pain management and functional restoration teams and also established a highly successful pain management service. He was the winner of the treating health practitioner award in Victoria 2012.

Jacqui is a health psychologist who has specialised in pain management and integrating psychology within pain in both a hospital and private practice setting. She has been the Australian Psychological Society representative to the National Pain Summit since its inception and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervises registered psychologists in the field.
