Presenter: Andrew Welsh
This webinar reviews the osteopathic principle of the structure - function relationship, particularly as it relates to quantifying common clinical examinations, using technology to leverage an osteopath's existing knowledge base and skill set. The aim is to present ideas to broaden one's scope of practice and business opportunities, improve confidence in case management & rehab settings, and to meet the demands on osteopaths by third parties for objective measures & reports.
However, most importantly, it keeps things relevant to clinical practice, and perhaps provides some ideas for future osteopathic research.
Andrew provides research examples of how this approach has been used and discusses how goniometric methods aim to assist osteopaths to objectively quantify the structure - function relationship.
It covers everyday clinical application examples, such as scoliosis assessment & monitoring over time, regional spinal assessment as it relates to gait and falls prevention, common joint and muscle ROM tests and considerations for ADLs, as well as screening in workplace health assessments, sports/general injury prevention and high performance.
