Degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis (OA) affect more than 50% of the Australian population aged 60 and over. Weight bearing joints such as those of the knee, hip, ankle and spine are most commonly affected, leading to significant losses in mobility and reduced quality of life for many patients. Early intervention aimed at prevention of joint and bone degeneration; management of inflammatory processes; and establishment of optimal repair mechanisms can substantially improve disease outcomes. Certain dietary factors, lifestyle considerations, and natural medicines have been shown to benefit patients with degenerative joint diseases, and work effectively alongside osteopathic treatment to support joint health. A number of these natural ingredients, dietary recommendations, and lifestyle factors will be reviewed in this webinar, helping add to your ‘clinical toolkit’ for support of patients with degenerative joint disease.
