Working with children with autism spectrum disorders

How do you work with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and movement impairments?

NDIS wants to define appropriate modalities (not professions, but specific management approaches) on a 'rule in, rule out' basis for children with ASD accessing early childhood intervention services and other clinical services. The aim is to produce a list of evidence-based therapies for this cohort to inform what the NDIS will and will not fund.

If you work in this area, tell us the key approaches you use for fine motor, gross motor skill development, stability, gait or coordination management. Please be specific about the type of intervention rather than just citing 'exercise therapy'.

Please send any feedback to Peter Lalli via email clinicalpolicy@osteopathy.org.au no later than 6th April 2021.
