Course Description

Presenter: Gerald Quigley

Traditional pharmaceutical pain relief is letting down patients – in both efficacy and risk profile. Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), opioids and paracetamol all have their respective pros and cons when it comes to musculoskeletal pain but there are alternatives available.

This webinar explores natural pain management therapies to complement the osteopathic modality. Topics covered include:

  • An overview of Australian pain statistics
  • Drug treatments and their limitations – elementary physiology
  • Complementary medicine options – mode of action, pharmacology, interaction risks, safety profile
  • The pain patient profile – the effects on quality of life, patient empowerment and interactions with other modalities
